Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only do weddings?
No, I am available for weddings, special occasions, proms and photoshoots.
Do you take a deposit?
I take a small non refundable booking fee of £20 to secure your date in my diary. Please note I will not reserve your wedding date until the booking fee has been paid. The booking fee is additional to the wedding day prices.
How and when do I pay?
Payments are to be made via bank transfer or cash. The booking fee is payable upon booking, the trial fee is due on the trial date and the wedding day balance is due no later than 2 days before the wedding.
How far do you travel?
I cover anywhere within a 1 hour drive from York. This includes York, Harrogate, Leeds, Selby, Pocklington, Malton, Helmsley, Beverley, Wakefield, Wetherby, Richmond etc.
Do you have a minimum booking?
I have a minimum booking for Saturday weddings in peak season. This is hairstyling for Bride + 3 adults from April to September.
How many people can you style?
I can style up to 8 people by myself, anything over this I would bring an assistant.
Where do trials take place?
I can travel to you (travel fees will apply). Alternatively if you dont have a base in the York area I have a small home studio space in York YO10.
What do I need to bring to the trial?
Ahead of the trial I will ask you to send me any inspiration pictures you have so I have an idea of what you'd like. If you have any hair pieces (decorative combs, pins, hair bands, veil etc) please bring these. If you don't have these yet please don't worry, some brides like to know how their hair will be before purchasing. I am happy to advise what will work in your chosen style and will have a small selection of pieces for you to try with. If you are planning on wearing clip in extensions please bring these along too.
How long will the trial take?
The bridal trial will take around 1.5 hours. Any bridesmaids/ mums etc who would like a trial are welcome to, these will be £60 for bridesmaids/ £50 for mums and will be around 45 mins.
How long will you need on the wedding day?
I usually allow around 1 hour for the bride and 40 mins per person for everyone else. I like to arrive 10 mins before start time to set up and aim to have everyone finished 1 hour before the ceremony (or 1 hour before you set off if not getting ready at the venue).
When should I wash my hair?
Please come with clean, product free, dry hair ready to be styled. Either washed the night before or if you have fine hair and usually wash it every day , wash and dry it that morning.
Can you work with naturally curly hair?
Yes! I love working with curly hair! I have a little girl with very curly hair that I have to style and look after so I am used to working with curls every day. If you would like to wear your hair in its natural curl please use your normal curl products after washing to help your curls with frizz and definition and I'll take it from there!
